I think you are underrating the power of a central figure to alter attitudes and relationships. The fact that the American people, who voted in George Bush at TWO elections, can now vote in an African-American with a grandma in a Kenyan village has already changed my perception of your country beyond anything I could have envisaged even months ago. I was never anti-American, but the fact that you voted in a man like Mr Bush made me so. Now you are all well and truly forgiven! Long live America!
