The point was that he was a big part of my life - I was at a boarding school and the weekends he was on duty I was one of a few kids who hung out at his office. I'd assumed there was no sexual component to the relationship - but when I got outed as gay for unrelated reasons, he took this as a green light to open up the possibility of a sexual relationship. That wasn't what I wanted or where I wanted things to go - so it was destructive of the relationship that had previously existed. Only in my mind, I should add - there was no publicity or even significant comeback from him - he tried to have things continue as before after I declined his offer - but to me it left a negative shadow over what had been before.
