I do sense that this detective was using the argument to justify his work on operation ore. [the controversy now surrounding this investigation rages on though does nothing for the thousands of people caught up in it of course.]
for me it was the end of one life but the start of a different one. the detective was a key figure in that. he became my detective: angel in disguise come to turn my life upside down.
(I often prayed for that through the nineties. little did I know!)
