I understand that some people have been having trouble with banned words, so I wanted to clarify why things are the way they are and what is being done about it.

There are security concerns behind the banning of certain words. It has nothing to do with censorship, it has to do with cross site scripting, link injection, and other malicious posts.

I intend to tighten up the rules so that they aren't so broad and won't affect anyone but the bad guys as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this requires more access than what I currently have as a mod. That access has been requested, it's just a matter of waiting and hoping for a positive response.

I may revert things back to the way they were if the annoyance over this issue continues. It may (or may not) be less safe, but not any less safe than it's been for the last 10 years before the rules were broadened.
