Hi Dakota, I've been to Youtube a few times on a friend's computer and I think I know what you are talking about. It's really great to just surf around and see what you can find. As I recall, there are a LOT of videos with boy singers on there as well. I LOVE boy singers too. I remember there were some Billy Gilman videos on there that I had never seen before; they just got me big time, oh man! I remember that scene in The Earthling, it's one of my favorites, too. Here is the scene that got to me...well, there are two, actually. The first one is when Holden keeps asking Ricky (Shawn or Sean...I don't know the spelling..) his name and the boy can't tell him. Then he (Holden) yells something like "...and you can't even tell me your name!" Obviously he is trying to yank the boy out of his shock. Then Ricky yells something that really made me think hard...he says "my name is....my name is...." then he yells "My NAME IS GOD!! G. O. D. GOD!" Oh man, it gives me chills just typing it out. Because I started to think about it; maybe he was God for Patric Foley in a way. You know, God can use curcumstances like that in a person's life to bring that person back to Him. If you watch the movie with that in mind, it really puts a cool meaning into it that maybe the directer didn't have in mind. And then the scene near the end where Ricky tells him that he hates him, but then throws his arms around him and tells him that he loves him...that just breaks me up every single time. I sure hope that one will come out on DVD someday. I know there will be at least two copies sold as soon as they hit the shelves, huh? One more thing. One of the things that Rick Shroder said durring the commentary of The Champ was so cool. He said that he has always been the kind of person that tends to feel things deeply, and that has the abulity to show those feelings freely. Those aren't his exact words, but they are kind of close. I can see that in his movies, especially as a young boy actor. He said that he has had people tell him that his work has greatly impacted thier lives in posative ways because of that. And he wasn't saying that to brag, it was just simply something that has happened from time to time in his life. By the way, thank you for the insights abnout his relationship with William Holden, and the things they did together durring the making of that movie. And I didn't know that he named his son after Holden...I LOVE that! You know, I do beleive that some movies and plays are especially made just for BL's, whether it's intentional or not, don't you? Take care! With Love in Christ, Chris ![]() |
