I would just like to say that you shouldn't take a little rejection too personal. It may or may not have been intentional. Our church has the custom of greeting each other to. Everyone gets up and moves around and trys to greet everyone, sometimes it gets quite confusing. However there are some who aren't too good with strangers and one who just sits and waits for all to come to him. I can, as a boylover, understand how you can get a little hyper. In our church hugs aren't really uncomon but I never initiate contact with a child. If they come to me-fine. I love their handshake or hugs, but I don't start it. Sorry but it is the signs of the time. A neighbor of mine saw a young girl fall with her bike and hurt herself. He picked her up and carried her a half block home and put her on her doorstep and left. Her mom called the police about him. He heard about it and turned himself in and the matter was cleared up, but all I can say is---SICK!!
Back to the subject--don't give up one those who ignore you. The lord wants us all to love each other-reguardless. It doesn't matter if they return it or not. If you with hold your love you are as bad as they are.
