Had something like that happen to me, but the difference is, with this church, I greeted the pastor, he shook and smiled. His wife have the "look" so I didn't bother with her. Had other people ignore me when I greeted them as well.

I find mothers are just very protective of their children. Some are to the point of believing the gossip and that's not good either. God does not speak highly of gossip in Proverbs. I agree with Blazeofhope when stating that Christian love should not be conditional or choosy. I find it a sad thing that so many preach love but do not live it. We can only hope they find conviction in God's time.
