I am a boylover. I love boys.
I think about what a boy is and I realise that he's transitory and temporary.
He is a step along a journey.
Today he is here, tomorrow he is gone.
If I try and hold onto him and keep him for myself,
Then I'm not accepting him for who he is
Or where he's going.
One day my precious boy will be a man
It's completely and irresistibly inevitable.

Some people on his journey will be called to love him always
- his parents, his siblings, his wife, his children
but not I
This long term love is not my calling (though I may enjoy it if it comes my way)
But really…
I'm supposed to be temporary too.
The love I have to give is for a season
And he'll as naturally grow beyond me
As my affections will wait behind him.

And then the next boy will come along
To work his magic on my heart
And mine on his
Until we are both fond memories in each others' lives.
