Really, Blackstone, this is extraordinary. I think you have mistaken focus for incompleteness, perhaps because you've misunderstood the thrust of the essay. At no point did the essay purport to be a complete causal study of the roots of anti-pedophile sentiment, going back to the child labour laws of the 19th century! There were two paragraphs touching judiciously on some important recent factors in society's violent turn against pedophiles, in relation to the evolution of gay-positive Christianity -- and yes, no extended insert was made to complete the picture with all the other factors you have on your mind. Who would have read it all if it had been?

Anyways, on the site that this essay was originally posted on, I've made over 2000 posts and I've discussed many of the issues you've mentioned (but not child labour laws). So, really, I wonder, why would you make seemingly authoritative statements about my worldview, a topic that you haven’t investigated? You simply leap from assumption to assumption.

And look! "It is easy to construct a world view based on only the evidence that backs it up. But doing so is dishonest." Despite your apology at the beginning, you've gone and called me dishonest again, and again spuriously! One wonders at the sincerity of the initial apology; the impugning of honesty develops a distinct tone of unintentional irony. Do you realize that the term “dishonest” implies lying? It doesn’t just mean “seeming to tendentiously omit things I would have said in an opinion piece.” It’s a serious moral charge, and quite unlike anything I’ve read anyone say to anyone else in this forum. Certainly anyone who has disagreed with me so far has done so amicably and I have greatly appreciated the reciprocation of my good will. We don’t need to agree on everything to get along. But we can’t call each other liars whenever some footnotes seem to be missing.

Anyways, as Thomas Aquinas might have said, this sort of intellectual kibitzing is all “like straw compared to what has now been revealed to me.” The love of the Lord will shine through despite such things.

Boy Jesus, let your pure light shine forth and illuminate the way for all those lost in the garden maze of the intellect.
