I think the problem we have with each other's POV with Cat's problem is that we our idea of who God is and how he usually works are different.

I think there are miracles all around us all the time but the high majority are the kind that we'd rarely notice that there are a very few big and grand enough for us to realize it.

For example, let's say my vehicle broke down. I pray for it to be get fixed. I really really don't think God will *poof* make it be fixed. More likely is that I will have a friend who is good with that problem, or I will found out there is a new vehicle I can afford, or I will found out my area has a decent public transit system and I don't need my vehicle, or a store nearby will have the part I really need to fix it, something like that more subtle than anything drastic.

You seem to be saying that if Cat just had more faith and prayed more he would be made heterosexual.

Like I said before where does that leave us with Paul who prayed for his thorn to be taken away, not faithful enough? David was chased by Saul for years, not faithful enough?

There are verses in the Bible to say that God will do big things in your life and that if you pray God will help you AND that he does smaller thing we won't notice that bad things do happen to the faithful. I don't see these things as contradictory, the simple solution is both. God will do big and small things in our lives but doesn't always save us from our problems.
