Hi Robert-I,
I think we're going to have to call a truce and agree to disagree. I'm simply out of my depth here. All this biology stuff is making my head hurt ("...miraculous aspects of heterogamous birth - the asexual splitting of two Bacillus bacteria..."). I will say, though, that I have made an honest, sincere effort to understand your perspective; and in a way, I do. I don't agree, but I do see better where you're coming from (which is more than I could have said at the start). We're basically at an impasse here. Your view, in summary, seems to be: Nothing, as you can see, is a particular "brokenness" in my view; rather, as St. Paul said "All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify." "Vanilla" heterosexuality and homicidal sexual cannibalism share a common background, but one is workable in the this world and the other is not. To me, though, heterosexuality is God's primary design, and everything else IS brokenness in one form or other (and, therefore, not something to be pursued). At this point I don't know that I am able to continue debating the issue (using this line of reasoning) ... at least not without a lot more knowledge on my part. I must just say, the post you referenced me back to (http://cblf.org/messages/52963.htm) is really good stuff. I'm not saying I completely agree with (or understand) everything there, but you do present a compelling view on the origin of various attractions. If you have anything further to add, please feel free. However, if you're OK doing so, I'll close the debate for now. Thank you for being so gracious in your responses, despite the contentious and personal nature of the issue at hand. God Bless you, Rainboy |
