Hi Finding,

Hey, that's why we have this forum; to be of help to others who are like ourselves. I know what your going through because I've been there. Yea, I'm not into working out much, myself. But I remember when "L" got into that, lifting wieghts and all. I DID give it a try for a while. What the heck. I figured it couldn't hurt...unless I tried something like putting too much weight on the barbells (which I did do a few times...ouch!!!). I've never been much for sports, but "L" wanted to get into them, so actually we found a few things we were both interested in. We both loved watching martial arts movies, so when he told me he wanted to try Karate lessons, I paid for them and took him to the lessons myself. I DID try Karate myself, but quickly found out that it wasn't for me. But he liked it, and really appreciated my interest in what he liked.

He also became interested in basketball, so I said "What the heck!", and got into basketball, too. It wasn't difficult, really. I just started watching lots of pro basketball games until I began to understand the game a little better. Then when "L" would come over, I would turn on a game and we would both watch and really have a good time. Then one Christmas I got us both tickets to go watch our favorite team play. They offered a bus ride at the place where I worked, and it would be an all day event. Lots of fun! It was so much fun that we did it 3 more times after that. And I'm like you, I've never been into sports very much at all; didn't know a jump shot from a layup, but it wasn't difficult to get into it enough so that I could be with "L" a little more.

If you aren't very athletic (like me), then consider just being an avid (or even somewhat avid) spectator. I'll bet your YF will appreciate that a lot! And if he is playing football or something, do whatever you can to support what he's doing. He will dig that too, I'm sure. Whatever you do to better relate to him, I know he will appreciate, even if you aren't really good at it. Like knowing all the names of all the players on a football team. I didn't always know a lot of players names, but I think "L" was just happy that I tried to get into it. I know he loved going to the games!

Take care and God bless!
Chris
