The great Cat is absolutely in good conscience, then, and is so much luckier than so many others who realize at a certain point that they have something critical to belatedly disclose or conceal forever.

My buddy M just felt compelled to split up a 30-year marriage. He had gone into denial and concealment about being gay/bl since his intense romance as a 13 yo with his same-age neighbour was rudely broken up by both sets of parents (his bf got sent to live with distant relatives, never to be seen again). But somehow the attempt to head in the other direction (bi/hetero) exhausted itself after 30 years and it was not a pretty moment. I had to talk him into putting his gun down one night as he sat alone in a hotel room -- but now he's doing fine.
