Basically, I don't believe anyone chooses their sexual orientation. HOWEVER, and this is a big however, I believe patterns of behavior can be reinforced. What I mean is this. It is possible for someone to be gay without ever doing anything to make himself or herself gay. But I also believe it is very possible to tilt the scales, so to speak. I think everyone has at least a little gayness in them. If you are mostly gay, then there is nothing you can do to change that. But if you have gay tendancies, I think engaging in gay behavior can and will make you more gay than you normally would have been.
I believe the Bible is pretty clear that gay sex is a sin. But it is no more or less a sin than any other. So it comes down to how close you want to follow God. I know someone will want to point out some pillar of Christianity that had a gay partner, and I'm sure there are many. But that doesn't mean gay sex is not a sin. It just means that he must have been very devoted to God and His teachings in many other areas. No one but Jesus is without sin. So it is possible to sin and still follow God. It's all about how closely you want to follow Him. My advice would be to try to refrain from gay activities. If you are truly gay, you'll know it soon enough. But if you only have gay tendancies, the urge to do gay things will pass in time. Dakota |
