You are searching for a way to have a laudatory/pejorative or neutral/pejorative word pair for the phenomenon of people who are sexually attracted to boys, parallel to dog/mutt or dog/cur, or journalist/hack, woman/dame (chick, ho, strumpet, virago, bitch etc.), gay/faggot, lesbian/dyke, African-American/word omitted, etc.

The only problem is that paedophile is originally not a pejorative. It's a neutral word referring scientifically to people attracted to prepubescent children. It doesn't comment on what they do with that attraction (a word, pedosexual, was devised to refer to people specifically trying to actively have sex with prepubescents.) Teen lovers got added on later; before that, they were considered to be "chicken hawk" variations on the theme of gay men. They have their own word "ephebophile" for those who want to get more technical. It was only when newspapers and other social forces started cooking up our current neo-puritan hysteria in the late 1980's that paedophile shifted over to being a horror-word that was equivalent to child-rapist in the socially conservative mind.

The question is, do people want to allow these scandal-mongering forces to twist terminology to suit their own world-view?
