Rainboy (I love your nick!),
I do not believe that zoophilia is acceptable because equality in the relationship is purely impossible. There are many supporting arguments, but this one is central, and self-complete.
I arrive at this and most of my beliefs and logical conclusions by observing that God speaks God's will to us through 4 paths:
**The Bible, the Word of God in text.
**The Law of Love, the basis of the Bible's two Testaments
**The Laws of Nature, the patterns into which God has formed our reality
**The Guidence of the Holy Spirit, the direct Revelation God gives to all Christians in our hearts, extracted by careful meditation, prayer and discernment.

The "Gestault" of all 4 paths, while difficult to see at times, is God's will for us as individuals, and as groups. (By "Gestault" I mean that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; the seemingly seperate parts are also necessarily intertwined.)

The example of adoption is one (possible, it clearly remains to be tested) that shows how the Laws of Nature can enlighten us as to the will of God. It is by no means definitlive on its own, and in fact neither are any of the paths. Even the words of the Bible itself can be twisted and misunderstood and deliberately used for evil if the other three are ignored.

In response to your specific question about gay adoption, you are right to say that it is not easy for gay couples to adopt. But you are incorrect is saying that it is legal. For example, Tennessee recently passed a law that forbids unmarried couples (defined as unmarried sexually partnered and living together) from adopting, and another that actively does not recognize any gay marriage or civil union no matter where it was performed. Other states have similar laws or are trying to pass them, and still others let adoption agencies make their own policies on the issue and since many adoption agencies are run by conservative (read: Catholic) religious organizations, they deny gay applicants based on those same concepts. It is all gotten around by not making any laws that alone deny "just gay people" (for instance, a straight unmarried couple could not adopt in Tenn.). Realistically, it is valid to deny *single* individuals from adopting, as single parent families are proven to be more likely to be unstable and to end worse for the child. And even an unmarried couple, without the protections and rights of full marriage are less prepared to care for a child (health insurance, death benefits, child care benefits, being able to see your child when they're sick when you're not considered the parent, not being able to travel with your child for that reason, eyc. eyc.) But in Tenn., a single person *can* adopt. A federal gay marriage law would sweep aside all such laws and policies. Even in Tennessee, gay people would then have recourse, (like the unmarried straight couple) when they wanted to adopt, to get married.

In Christ,
~CSL
