Sanctified,
I don't know that you are called into Youth ministry. I thought I was. I tried, but after some time in the ministry, God showed me it wasn't my calling. Then, even as a youth sponsor, He convicted me when I got to feeling things I shouldn't. You will not find peace and your ministry will not yield fruit if it is not your calling. Being around kids might help some, but, you're right, that constant prayer is needed to be at right with God. So long as He is first, no matter what, you will stand on top of it. I find my music activity in church helps me stay focused on God. I use that as my saving grace, and it's something to do to keep me off the activity I shouldn't be involved with. That's not to say you can't help somehow in youth ministry. I did a lot of research and found a lot of resources while looking into the ministry. I shared this with churches and became kind of a consultant to small church programs, but I didn't work directly in implementing the program. That was the church adults who did that. It was a good cooperation, especially in small towns that don't have any other activities for youth. You'll find your events will be well attended, and even a rare opportunity to see the fruits of ministry. Just find your niche, have a hobby outside of BL to keep you focused on God, pray, and God will provide your stability. Blessings, Oliver |
