May the Lord wrap his arms of love around you, Cat. I have a very hard saying that comes from long before we ever met, and I am going to repeat it here. It's just an opinion, of course, and you and others may disagree. "Being in a relationship with a member of the wrong sex for you combines the 'joys' of celibacy with 'joys' of sexual violation." The Bible doesn't directly deal with this problem and I am searching around for things that seem to bear on it. "13 No temptation hath taken you -- except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear it." But I don't think this experiment with your wife is the outlet that makes you able to bear your temptations, since it seems to be less bearable than the temptations themselves. What IS, then, the outlet that the Lord has made for you that can make your situation bearable? "Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?" The original reference is to the Law of Moses, but who among the well known figures of the bible ever bore the yoke of having to have sex that was detestable to them? Why do your spiritual advisors put God to the test in you? Where is your God-given outlet? |
