I may not be the most devout Christian here, but I do have a take on Heaven/Hell.
I believe that the Bibles scripture of heaven and hell is a metaphor that was taken too literally. A literal interpretation would be unsuitable for a spiritual book, no? One could live their life filled with Sin, and repent on their deathbed and make it to heaven. The churches interpretation of Heaven/Hell, is basically; Your goal is to earn Brownie Points, and if you don't have enough, you will live in a fiery cesspool forever. I try to take the Bible Spiritually: Personally, I think there is only ONE afterlife. When we leave the world, we can experience the things we could never dream, answer all the questions. However, I think what the Heaven/Hell scripture meant was that; the quality of this 'afterlife' is determined by how we live our lives now. We are constantly reminded that God/Jesus loves us. Even if we go to hell? YES: We will be loved regardless. we are God's Children. He made us who were are, and encouraged us to learn the ways of the world. If your life was full of bad deeds, you will reflect upon them in heaven. Uh, wait, let me summarize it this way: A literal heaven would be almost incomprehensible. It is beyond thought what waits after death in this world. |
