About your "treatment" experience:
Labels are powerful things, aren't they? Especially when you've got one tatooed on your forehead so to speak.

In the middle of last century, a professor of psychology who was fond on learning by experience, sent a group of his grad students to a mental hospital as part of a project. They were sent there with referral papers stating that they had been diagnosed by said professor with schizophrenia, recomending that the hospital take over their 'treatment'. They were admitted. They took notes, participated in the group therapy sessions (but didn't attempt to feign any symtoms) etc. for 6 weeks. Then they informed the staff that they had been conducting an experiment for their class, and needed to contact their professor so he could fill them in. For every single one of the students, the staff member wrote in their notebook "believes he is a psychology grad student" and ignored their request. It took another 6 weeks before the prof. realized that he hadn't had the contact he'd expected from the students, and started making phone calls. And then, the hospital didn't believe him! He had to come in and personally identify each and every student before they let them out! In that time, the fear had gotten to the students, and they had even begun to actually exhibit some of the symptoms of schizophrenia; begun to question if they really had been hallucinating the whole "grad student" thing. Nearly all of the students quit school or switched majors and the professor never attempted to repeat the project. One student committed suicide some time later.

Your experience has some eerie echoes of that project. You were labelled "sex offender" and "pedophile", so everyone assumed that you were a child molester, and that your attestations to the contrary were lies, and in fact evidence of your misdeeds. And then they even accused you of being delusional, because the could not reconcile the labels with the idea of "Christian and celibate".

Humans are so sad.

In Christ,
