Disregarding your metaphor, I do not approve or disapprove of a person's sexual feelings. They simply exist, my degree of approval means little when it comes to matters that I think we do not have a choice in. Society would indeed be a better place with acceptance of all people, regardless of sexual orientation (although this is not to say that all sexual practices should be tolerated or accepted). Cat is a great friend to me and I discussed my post with prior and following his reading of it. I gathered that he was merely trying to see some good in a negative situation, and I admire that of him. However, to say you are somewhat "glad" that a situation exists because it might inadvertently help a small number of people at the expense of everyone else is selfish thinking. I used some of the inferences in Cat's post to attack that type of thinking, even though I don't attribute that mentality to him, or believe he meant it that way. |
