Welcome to CBF. Scripture says that God will forgive us of ANY transgression despite the fact that He is Holy and we are sinful. I'm not sure how you can interpret that as nominal. The comfort it gives is the fact that we will be with God for eternity. That doesn't always make it any easier to deal with things in the here and now, but it is a comfort. It's also comforting to know that God loves us unconditionally.
There's no easy answer as to how one gets thru life with this burden. Some don't consider it a burden. I do. This may sound like a flippant answer, but I just get thru it the best I can. What I mean is that first and foremost, I do whatever it takes to make sure this burden doesn't hurt anyone else. I do whatever it takes to keep from offending. Then I do the best I can, with God's help, to keep my mind clean. For me, this is the hardest part. I find that the closer I stay to God, the easier this is. Well, easier may not be the right word, let's just say less difficult, cause it's never easy. One very important thing I try not to do is not to beat myself up over my feelings and attractions since I have no control over them. It's easy to get depressed and down on yourself if you blame yourself for what is inside you. Give yourself some credit for refraining from acting on them. Everyone has burdens and it does no good to focus on them or compare your burdens with what other people have to deal with, thinking how unfair it is that yours can be so hard and painful. Life isn't fair, but in comparison to eternity, it's less than an eyeblink. So to fret over how you have to deal with this while others don't is like fretting over getting a splinter when others don't. It may be a big deal now, but how big a deal do you think it will be be after spending a few thousand years with God? Dakota |
