I just bought a new camera not too long ago and have been having lots of fun learning how to use it. I have been into photography off and on (mostly off, unfortunately) since I was just out of High School, so all this digital stuff is really neat. Anyway, about a month or so ago I took my camera to a church picnic, the last picnic of the year, and shot up a bunch of pics. It was great, and I took many, many pictures of people. And YES I took lots of pics of all the kids playing. All of the pictures I took were right out in the open and absolutely NONE of them were in bad taste by anyone's definition.
At least I thought by anyone's definition. I sent my pics to my dad because he is a professional photographer. I wanted his opinion on them. He wrote me back and pretty much told me off. He said, "I thought you had put all this stuff behind you. I can't believe you took all these pictures of kids playing..." etc. It was crazy. So I wrote him back and told him that I would NEVER take pictures that are in any way illegal or imoral and that I love children and I love taking thier pictures. I told him that all the parents were well aware of what I was doing that day and that it was at a church function. I haven't heard back from him since. Oh well, I guess we aren't speaking again. You know...it just never ends. Chris |
