I agree with you completely and I feel that I may have misspoken. I've actually argued that point on this very board in the past. I refrain from things that are perfectly acceptable to God but deemed unacceptable to the modern day pharisees for that very reason.

However, I do not believe that applies in this case. In this case, what you are doing (you being the pedophile who is working with children) is, without a doubt, for the glory of God. People who see what you are doing are not made to stumble. If anything, they are inspired. If I had a dollar for every parent who has thanked me for what I do, I'd be a fairly wealthy individual.

In fact, the verse you provided helps to promote the view that you should keep your sexual attractions to yourself. Bringing your sexual attractions to light could cause others to stumble. Keeping it to yourself wouldn't.

I actually know of a church that has suffered through a terribly devisive series of arguments amongst its leadership over the question of whether to accept a person who recently applied for membership whose name appears on the sex offender registry.

These types of issues cause people to stumble. Keeping them to yourself does not.

Therefore, I would argue that to be open with your congregation about your sexual attraction is what would violate the verses you provided. To keep your private struggles private would do more to keep people from stumbling than bringing them to the open would.

Just think about it logically for a second. What is more likely to cause someone to stumble?

a.) One of the people who works with children is a pedophile
b.) One of the people who works with children is great with the boys
