If you were a convicted money offender, oops, I mean bank embezzler (or, for that matter, someone who was strongly tempted to take what didn't belong to him even if he had never done so), and you felt God called you to be the church treasurer, fine.
But be sure you tell everyone of your past and/or your struggle with an unusually strong temptation. I agree. Because once a door has been opened, it is impossible to ever lock it again. But for those who have never opened that door and have never embezzled, it's a moot point. The second part of your statement betrays a serious misconception about Boylovers that you seem to have. The insinuation is that BL's have an unusually strong temptation to molest children. Not only is this untrue, as most of us BL's can attest, but the person who opened this thread went out of his way to specifically dispell that myth. If they ask you to not take on that role, it may be a sign that your discernment of God's call was off. If you need confirmation from other people about what God is asking you to do, then perhaps you need to work on your relationship with God before you attempt to take a ministry position. I have a feeling that if God intended you to be treasurer of that church, you could tell of your history and you'd still have the job. I have a feeling you are wrong. God gives us free will. Which means that we are free to ignore God and believe our own prejudices and thereby deny God's blessing by rejecting the people he sent to help us. People in a leadership position are not immune to doing this. |
