That is always a hard question. Some denominations like to explain it by having a magical age of accountability. Sound familiar? Sort of like age of consent for sinning. And we all know how often that AoC is debated.

Here is the thing. God tells us that the only way to God is through belief in Christ. We can't see into the boy's heart, we can only hope he did have a saving faith, even just a tiny glimmer. That and we trust that our God is both loving and merciful.

Like in all our lives. All we can do is trust in Him.
