Hey Zeke!
Interesting topic you brought up here, and I'm not quite sure exactly where I am on this. One one hand, I don't really agree with Blackstone when he says that the kids already know whats out there. In one of my experiences with a boy from way back when (my "sorta" yf, for whose who remember), I was quite surprised just how naive he was - and this is one of the "cool" kids who was going into grade 6. I'm sure kids know about good touches and bad touches and what a pedophile is, but I don't think that all of them realize that when they post a picture or video on a site that is geared towards kids, it isn't just kids that will be looking at it. Actually, there will be a significant amount of pedophiles looking at those kids-based sites - so much more than what I'd say 90% of the kids imagine. But on the other hand, I do agree that there are better things to be doing than playing "internet cop". You are right with the "takes on to know one" thing in that we have a little inside edge. But instead of being vigilantes, it would likely be a lot of constructive to create an awareness program or organization based on the web that reaches out to communities, both online and real life. It would be a monstrous undertaking and would need a lot of help and support, but I think your idea has some real bearing on whats happening now a days. But really, as a few separate people randomly patrolling those places, we really won't do much. Great idea, but just has to be tweeked a bit. Now, how to put it into action ... I call not organizing this :P (too much work) Graces of God, Deliverance ![]() |
