This might be considered a radical thought here, or perhaps some of you have already thought it and are now acting upon it...
On my job, I work a lot with what we call emerging technologies. We are always looking at ways to use these popular up-and-coming technologies to better market our services, mainly toward youth. In doing so, I've become very aware of sites such as stickam, myspace, youtube, etc. Additionally, as a minor-attracted adult, I'm also aware of how certain pedophiles use these same sites to manipulate teens and children. I think that saying "it takes one to know one" is very true in this regard -- NOT to say I would ever act in the same manner in which I see some of these men acting, but I do have an understanding of how their minds work toward achieving whatever flesh-fulfilling goal they have in mind with the youth who use these sites. With that being said, have you ever considered using what you know about pedophiles toward becoming a vigilante who helps protect our online youth? In no way am I suggesting that we involve law enforcement or act alongside them. I guess it'd be kind of like the movie Blade where the main character, though a vampire, suppresses his vampiric desires while on a conquest to do away with all evil-doing vampires. At the very least, we'd be warning kids about the dangerous predators who appear to be stalking them while also calling those predators out into the open so that their devious plans can be revealed (even if it means nothing more than posting a comment on their profiles). Have you ever considered doing this? Or do you believe it dangerous to even be playing around in this area? I'm interested in your thoughts and opinions on this. Thanks in advance! Zeke |
