In brief, my understanding of this is that we humans have mistranslated, misunderstood and occasionally deliberately misinterpreted this and other passages that appear to condemn homosexuals.

This is a huge claim.

So for the whole history of Israel and the church up into this point "we humans" have made an error on the issue of God and homosexuality? And not just the lay people... but the vast majority of our teachers and scholars also.

How fortunate that after all this time someone has finally come along and figured it out and set us all straight! (no pun intended).

hmmmm... hold on... this person happens to be advocating a theology to justify his sexual lifestyle choice.

Can anyone smell something fishy here?

Look I understand how hard it is being a Christian who is not hetro...I know the prejudice that is out there and I even tried to make the whole marriage thing work and am failing miserably. But we can't just remold the Scriputres to fit our sexual leanings and then dismiss THOUSANDS of years of belief and practice in the name of mistranslation, misunderstanding or misinterpretation.

I have read this article twice now... the exegesis is poor, the word study is inaccurate and the conclusions are ultimately based on the premise that "because Scriputre don't condemn homosexual marriage then it must be ok". But Scripture don't condemn marrying your dog either. No one could show me one scripture to tell me I can't marry my dog. There may be something in Leviticus... but I can easily dismiss that with the arguements about how that law no longer applies to us.

Again I have to cite Jesus's words in Matthew 19:4-5 ""Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'

In this passage Jesus makes such a significant connection between "created male and female" and "FOR THIS REASON" a man is joined to his wife. Scriputre... and most importantly Jesus... puts marriage in only ONE context: that of HUSBAND and WIFE. It really is as simple as that.

What I would love to see is someone come up with what ARE the Godly options for those of us who ARE same gender attracted? Cause I really struggle to accept that "just go and be celibate" is really going to work. I think this is born out by the creation of theologies like those presented in this article. They see the problem.... but I don't think they answer it biblically.

Blessings
Cat.
