Actually, I disregard all tradition unless it serves some scriptural or scripturally based purpose.
As to the use of the word "orthodox", your church does not have a monopoly on the use of this word any more than Catholics have on the use of the word catholic. Both these words have meanings other than as names of denominations that predate the existence of either. Also, icons are a part of Christian history, not exclusive to the Eastern Orthodox Church, that people recognise and identify with ancient and sacred thoughts and feelings. One more thing: IO is not a new sect or denomination. It is a theological concept. Justin Cannon is a member of the Episcopal Church (as am I) and is trying to repair the damage that the homosexuality issue has caused in the Episcopal Church and in Christianity as a whole by showing that homosexuality is acceptable within the Scriptural confines without abandoning absolute Scriptural Truth, or authority.
