CSL... the problem is not that the statement God is Love and all the law is fulfilled in love. The problem is "what is love"?

Some people define love as tollerance of all people.

This would not be a biblical definition of love at all.

The Bible teaches acceptance, respect and honour of all people. It teaches putting the needs of others ahead of one's own. It teaches sharing one's resourses with those who have less than oneself. It teaches obedience to God's commands and all these things consititute biblical love.

Godly people from all generations of the Scriputres were far from tollerant. Sin is sin in Scriputre there is no tollerance of sin or siners labeled as "love". The cry of the Gospel is clearly "repent"... do it God's way.

Jesus said, "if you love me obey my comandments" and lay down your lives for one another.

God accepts us as we are and faith leads to righteousness. But we are accepted as sinners. And our sin is to be put off and overcome and forsaken, not embraced and enjoyed. Our liberty is not to become a cloak for vice (Gal 5).

Homosexuality is a delicate issue since the Scriputres are debated by those such as yourself who believe in the acceptability of monogomus homosexual marriage. However, this is a very new doctrine and there is a long standing tradition in the chruch's understanding of Scriputre against it. I can only encourage you to be very careful.

I guess I'm not really commentating on what was preached in your church since you haven't given us much details... but from my experience of this issue: Love does not equal tollerance.

Blessings
Cat.
