I have already addressed that. I don't see the value in addressing it again. But I'll give it one more whirl in case you missed it the first time.
Whether someone feels strong enough to lead a celibate lifestyle is irrelevant. Moses did not feel strong enough to lead his people from Egypt, yet that is what God created him to do. There are countless people, both in the bible and every day life who are tasked with something that feels beyond their abilities. I don't know of any cancer survivor who always felt they were strong enough to handle chemo, or anyone who has lost a loved one and felt they were strong enough to handle that before it happened. But as it turns out, all these people look back at their lives once the situation has been overcome and realize that they were strong enough afterall. Part of the reason is that people underestimate their own strength. Another part is that people fail to take the strength of God into account. Remember, the bible tells us in Matthew 19:26 that with God all things are possible. You wanted to talk about fallacies? That argument you used is a good example. Even if the premise is correct (a person feels unable to remain celibate), the conclusion can still be incorrect (the person may still have the ability to remain celibate even if they don't think they do). |
