I don't see how these two things automatically go together.

If I'm not attracted to the opposite sex, but I am very strongly attracted to the same sex, how then is it that God has somehow gifted me with a level of self-control that the straight guys don't even get.

I think this is just sidestepping the issue becuase you don't have a workable Scriptural solution.
