No, I'm not a KJV type either, its got many problems too.
I use several different translations and study Bibles simultaneously, as well as the original Greek and Hebrew texts with translation aids. That way I know what the real Bible says. I don't trust anyone to tell me what the Bible says. God has led us to enough resources to read if for ourselves. If you read it like this, it requires no "amplification" or "interpretation into modern simplified slang" or any such obfuscations of meaning with someone else's idea of what it means.

As to those passages that you talk about, I think you should re-read them all the way I do and consider the possibility that you are wrong and that you have been told things that are not true about what the Bible says.
