I doubt if anything can actually turn someone gay, but if something could I would bet it would be having less affection than more. My YF used to love to sit on my lap from age 9 to age 12, and I had no problem with it at all. We were always very comfortable with one another and he knew where and when it would be appropriate. We were always very close and he soaked it all up, the hugs and sitting real close together. We both loved it and believe me, he definately did not turn out gay. He is a 100 percent heterosexual man to this day.

I think it's important to know how close a boy wants to get before you go ahead and get that close to him, but I wouldn't be afraid to hug, hold, or even kiss him if he wants to do those things. And I definately wouldn't be afraid to let him sit on my lap if that's what he wants to do. I would let him make the first move in this, but if he did I wouldn't tell him "no".
