I read the chapter the same night you posted this, and it took me until now to be able to write about it. The pain and conflict in Johnnie when Milano 'proposed' to him cut me deep. When he dropped the rode in the mud, I cried. I'm fighting back the tears even now, days later, just thinking about it.

Saying you have a gift with words is kind of like saying a brain surgeon has a gift with scalpels: it doesn't do justice.
