I'm still feeling like crap today so on the way to work and on the way home I was listening to one of my favorite Blues tapes in the car. This Muddy Waters song came on and it echoes how I feel in it's words and in the way he sings it out. I hope my man Muddy dosen't mind that I changed one word (from "girl" to "boy") to make it more personal for me. It's how I have been singing it all day long...
Here's the song: You Can't Lose What You Aint Never Had by Muddy Waters (slightly revised by me) I had a sweet little boy, I lose my baby, ain't that bad I had a sweet little boy, I lose my baby, ain't that bad You can't spend what you aint got, you can't lose some little boy you ain't never had Had money in the bank, I got busted, people ain't that bad Had money in the bank, I got busted, people ain't that bad You can't spend what you ain't got, you can't lose some little boy you ain't never had Ain't it the truth boys? (instrumental) Had a sweet little home, it got burned down, people ain't that bad It was my own fault, people ain't that bad Well you know you can't spend what you ain't got, you can't lose some blues you aint never had (instrumental) Have Mercy! Sweet little home, got burned down, people ain't that bad Yea you know I had a sweet little home, it got burned down, people ain't that bad Whoa you know you can't spend what you ain't got, you can't lose some little boy you ain't never had Thank you Muddy! From one wounded animal bluesman to another...I thank you for this great song. I hope you won't mind that I changed it just a little. Thanks for making me feel better with your...our...blues! Chris |
