Marc talked about mentoring a child. He never said anything at all about having sex with one. I believe his point was that he wanted to show people that pedophiles can interact with a child in a healthy and helpful way without succumbing to their lust by having sex with them. Personally, I wholeheartedly agree with this concept, but don't agree that anything we do will ever change the general public's opinion of us. Even the most generous and open minded of people will still consider it to be too much of a risk to trust anyone around kids if they have (or at least admit to) the least bit of sexual attraction to them. If a pedophile does as marc suggests, and admits to his pedophilia after mentoring a child without being sexual with them, people will either not believe that he was never sexual with the kid, or will think he is a rare exception to the "rule" that all pedophiles are dangerous.
