I hate to tell you hun, but I'm a fundamentalist. I 'm just more fundamental that those who claim the title! I believe that the Bible is the truly divinely inspired immutable Word of God. What I don't believe in is the athority of human tradition, including the athority of translation tradition. This is why Paul's meaning is so important. It's not so much what Paul thought as it is what God was trying to say through him.
As it pertains to the passages in question here, since Paul coined the word arsenokoitai from the Levitical passage, and the Levitical passage is so difficult to translate that it's true meaning may have been lost to the ravages of the Roman fires, that the Law of Love dictates that we do not use what little we can deduce from these scraps any message that condemns anyone who is not violating the Law of Love themselves. Where we do not understand the Law of the Word, we must seek to follow the Law of Love. And I think that may very well be the point behind all of this mess itself. Love in Christ, ![]() |
