I fully understand why you take issue with my use of testimonies as evidence for a counterpoint, as I would typically agree with you. However, I was doing so not so much to prove my point directly, but rather to disprove their philosohical points. One of the ex-gay's central "selling points", and the important factor for anyone looking at a method to evaluate it's effectiveness and ethical nature, is their results, as evidenced (in this case) by their testimonies. I attacked their results through counterexample, through more thorough definition and consideration, and through statistical analysis; brief though it may have been. I believe that my use of counterexample testimony to their testimony is valid supporting evidence, and that I used it properly: to suggest that the numerical results were representative of an obfuscated reality.

All that said, I do appreciate being kept honest!
