Firegiveness

Posted by JohnQ on 2007-04-22 20:00:39, Sunday

One day a while back, a man heavy with grief, was walking through the woods. As he thought about his life that day, he knew many things weren't right. He thought about those who had lied about him back when he had a job. His thoughts turned to those who had stolen things from him and had cheated him. He remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned to the illness that no one could cure. His very soul was filled with anger, frustration and resentment. (Sound familiar, Jeremy?)Standing there that day, searching for answers he couldn't find, Knowing that all else had failed him, he knelt at the base of an old oak tree to seek the one who would always be there and with tears he prayed.
"LOrd you've done wonderful things for me in this life. You've told me to do many things for you and I've always obeyed. Today you told me to foregive. I'm sad, Lord, because I don;'t know how. It's not fair, Lord I didn;t deserve these wrongs done to me and I shouldn"t have to forgive. As perfect as your way is, Lord, this one thing I cannot do, for I don't know how to forgive. My anger is too deep that I fear I may not hear you. But I pray that you teach me to do this one thing that I can't do: Teach me to forigve.
As he knelt there in the quiet shade of the old oak tree, he felt something fall on his shoulder. Out of the coirner of his eye he saw something red. He couldn't turn to see what it was because where the oak tree had been was a large square piece of wood in the ground. He raised his eyes and two feet held to the wood with a large spike. He raised his eyes more and terars came to his eyes as he saw Jesus hanging on a cross. He saw hands nailed to the wood, a large gash in his side, a battered body and deep thorns sunk into his head. Finally he saw the agony on His precious face. As their eyes met the man's tears turned to sobbing.
Jesus began to speak.
"Have you ever told a lie?"
"Yes Lord."
"Have you ever been given too much change and kept it?"
"Yes, Lord."
"Have you ever sworn, taking my Father's name in vain?"
"Yes Lord."
As Jesus asked many more times, "Have you evere..." the man's crying became unconctrolable for all he could answer was, "Yes Lord"
Then Jesus turned his head to the other side and thr man felt something fall on his other shoulder. He looked and it was the blood of Jesus. When he looked up his eyes met those of Jesus and there was a look of love the man had never seen before
Jesus said, "I didn't deserve any of this either but I forgive you."
It may be hard how you're going to get through something, but when you look back, you'll realize how true this statement is.

Read the first line slowly and let it sink in If God brings you to it, He'll bring you through it.
When Jesus died on the cross He was thinking of you.
