He is so concerned about us that He chose to die for us. He is concerned that we feel the way we do about life and He definately has plans to fulfill the desires of our hearts. Christianity isn't just about serviving life so that we can somehow get into heaven, it's about discovering peace and joy (a bit of heaven) in this life by having God live within us.

There is no way that even the best person on this earth will be able to enter heaven on his or her good works or best effort, it just can't happen. You could suffer your whole life trying to be good, and still not make it. There is only one way to be a child of God, and that involves the thing that Jesus did for us on the cross. It's not about going to church, or doing religious things, or being good and swearing off certain sins...those things are all good, but they don't earn you anything at all. God isn't into the point system. He is into the "love system".

I don't mean to sound preachy or anything, I just want you to know that God is all about you and how you feel. He knows how bad you feel about life sometimes and he is just waiting to make things a whole lot better by moving in. He will move into your heart...not the one that pumps blood, but the very core of your being, the beautiful thing that makes you you, and begin to heal it from within. That is how a Christian can find joy in the midst of sadness, peace in the middle of strife.

God really loves you, New Guy, he really does. And He was just dying to show you how much. He will show you and believe me, it won't hurt at all.
