There are parts of me I don't really want to let go of yet. I have my favorite little somewhat sinful things I like and feel comfortable with and, doggone it, I'm just not ready to let go of them yet. But I always throw in that word "yet". Because I know that there will come a day when I will be able to let go of those things as well.

I think God understands enough about how we work to know that it takes time for us poor humans to let go of it all. But we can still give him all of our lives. Life is a process and a journey, so we give him ourselves and our lives completely in order to make that journey. Along the way we will need to throw away certain useless baggage that isn't helping us, but in fact holding us back. If we didn't give Him all, then we wouldn't know what things to eventually throw away, or have the strength to do it when we need to. By surrendering all to Him, we are giving Him the power to do that kind of work in our lives. It takes time, but it will all happen if we continue to give ourselves to Him completely.
