When is it ok to link to sites that violate copyright laws, and when is it not okay?

To put it another way, the question is: Since the hair must be split, where are you splitting it?

Obviously, the answer is not "it's never ok" this board's edit history would have been much stricter.

Remember, every time I link to a web page that uses even 1 sentence illegally, even if I'm unaware of that fact, I'm linking to a site that violates copyright laws.
