Please do not link to content that violates copyright laws---Webmaster

Many web links violate copyright laws. Links to unauthorized song lyrics and links to web sites that include quotes from the NIV Bible without putting the required [NIV] after the scripture are but two examples.

It's pretty clear why CBLF cannot tolerate posts that violate copyright laws, as it endangers the security of the board and the poster who makes such a post. However, AFAIK there is no law broken by allowing occasional links to off-site web pages that violate copyright laws.

With that said:
  • there is a case in the USA where a commercial, ad-supported web site is in court over deep-linking to another site's video. I think the trial court ruled that it was a copyright violation but it is being appealed and has a good chance of being overturned.
  • there is a moral case to be made for not encouraging other web sites to violate the law by linking to them. You can even make a case that allowing such links is un-Biblical.
