Greetings Sir Darkness,
And in the spirit of the thread *bows to Darkness and to Godspell* *smiles* We have not yet met. I am an oldtimer here in the forum. Recently back from a death of sorts... I was reading old posts. And since you posted only yesterday, I do hope this post shall be seen by you. I did enjoy your analogy. It shows some pretty creative use of allegory metaphor. And, through reading this thread, I understand what you mean by monster... The sinner that resides in all of us. Not just the pedophile, but in everyone. Atheist, Christian, and Pagan alike. And I understand why you chose the vampire to represent how you feel toward this situation. I am reminded about more than one story with a "good" vampire. There was a TV Show called "Forever Knight" back in oh... I think it was late 80's. I enjoyed that show alot. A Vampire cop trying to atone for past deeds. Heh... So yeah, I can fully relate to this analogy of one kind of perceived "monster" in a sea of monstrous society. Godspell, Hi! Hope you remember me.. :) I do think Darkness hit upon something vital. To most of us, vampires are seen as evil incarnate. Just like we are seen by so many in society. I too, balk at being called a "monster" but as it was explained, it is just another name for the cross that we share. That indeed all humanity shares in differing forms. Looking at that angle, I can see where he is coming from. However, for someone fresh, coming in and not having read or understood this thread, it could be very hazardous indeed. Think of the non-maa coming here and seeing us all taking vampire names. What would their reaction be? The thought of "evil" would be reinforced as both are stigmatized. The same if it was a Christian maa coming here for help. What would he or she think? While I think the analogy is fascinating, it is best not to allow it too much "exposure" per se. I would have liked to discussed both of your reasons reasons for, and rebuttals, more... But I am not sure if it would be practical. Darkness, I would invite you more into the light. *smiles* Even Vampires can worship the Son as you know! |
