I think it was PT Forsythe that said something along the lines of.... "I knew I was a sinner when I realised that even my prayers needed repenting of."

I was praying for my marriage with an elder of my church yesterday.

He prayed that God would save my marriage.

I realised at that moment that I have not been praying for God to save my marriage... I've been praying for God to save me from my marriage.

I don't think this is an appropriate prayer.

Asking God to save my marriage??? I feel like that is appropriate. But to be honest I'm not sure. I guess that is because I wonder how it could work out practically.... without the miracle of attraction.

"Your will be done Lord! And help me be obedient and show me what You want me to do. If it's Your will for me to be married then save my marriage and equip me to be the husband you want me to be. Forgive my rebelliousness Father. Have mercy on me."

sigh.... Praise God for his grace.
