What you advocate in step 3 may be a violation of board rules.
I have a better idea for dealing with temptations of all sorts: If the temptations are related to an underlying transient condition such as boredom, find a way to relieve the condition or find a way to wait it out. In the case of boredom, "idle hands are the devil's workshop." Go pick up trash in your neighborhood creeks and you'll be too busy to do anything "bad" on the computer. If the temptations are related to a permanent condition such as a nearly irresistable desire to relive a pleasurable condition (such a as a drug trip) it will be harder. You can try things like: Speaking of AA, the AA model works for many people and many issues. It is not for every issue or every individual. Also, mandatory-reporting laws relating to certain criminal acts sabotage its use in treating certain sexual addictions including, in some cases, the topic of this thread. |
