I totally disagree with the advice you are giving here.
This is not a minor revelation, this is a major thing that could ruin his life if it ever got out. It doesn't even have to ruin his life right now, it could end up ruining it 10, 20, 30, 50 years from now. You can't just tell every girlfriend you ever have. Do you really want someone leaving behind a trail of ex girlfriends, each wielding the power to destroy his life? This is the power to have any future children taken away from him by the state. It's the power to have him convicted of something he was falsely accused of and sent to prison for many years, perhaps even for life. It's the power to cause him to lose a job, an entire career, or even to have a ministry destroyed. The power to have himself disowned by his family and kicked out of his neighborhood. This is not something you want to be telling every person you ever date. In fact, it's something to seriously consider keeping to yourself even in marriage. Sorry Cat, but I think the advice you gave here was absolutely terrible. The last thing you want is to give every girl you ever date the power to destroy your future. |
