I should have clarified:

This was NOT on CBLF!

The forums this happened on were forums known for liars and false boasters. I had no particular reason to believe anyone saying they'd done things in the past was in fact telling the truth.

The general rule of thumb in the online world is if someone admits do doing something illegal, and doesn't admit they were prosecuted, odds are very very very high they are lying/fantasizing. If they aren't lying, they are very very very stupid to talk about it, as the Internet is by and large NOT as anonymous as one might think.
